A BIG challenge for little lives
A team from Pardoes Bevins Human Resources and Pardoes Solicitors have taken up the challenge to run the Bath Half Marathon in March 2010. The team will be raising funds in aid of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) ‘Space to Grow' campaign at Royal United Hospital, Bath.
Joseph and Olivia McDonough, 3 year old twins of Sean McDonough, a partner at Pardoes and a Bath resident, were born prematurely at the RUH in 2006 and both spent time in the RUH's existing Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Both Joseph and Olivia received first class care during their stay in NICU and are both excited about the prospect of cheering on their dad and his colleagues in this fund raising effort.
The ‘Space to Grow' campaign aims to raise £4.7 million to build a pioneering and urgently needed brand new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
One in ten babies are born premature or seriously ill and require treatment and care in the NICU with some babies staying in the unit for up to six month. The current NICU at Bath Royal United Hospital built in the 1970's now struggles to accommodate the larger and more sophisticated incubators and monitoring equipment. The plan is to build a pioneering, sustainable NICU that will create a low carbon building, optimising space and bringing about a highly beneficial healing and supportive environment for its babies and their families, fit for 21st century care.
The team of 11 runners from across the business have commenced training routines and with only four months to go are shaping up and in good spirits raring to go.
On Sunday 7th March 2010 the team will be running the two lap race of Bath city centre covering a distance of 13.1 miles.
The team from Pardoes Solicitors and Pardoes Bevins HR hope to raise a substantial sum in support of the ‘Space to Grow' campaign.
